What we do

By 2028, HDN aims to significantly increase socio-economic inclusion for more than 10,000 persons with disabilities across Hirshabelle, through targeted programs, advocacy wins, and stronger local institutions.

Inclusive Education & Skills Development

Education Without Barriers

Education is a basic right, yet for many children and adults with disabilities in Somalia, it remains out of reach. Stigma, inaccessible classrooms, and lack of trained teachers contribute to high dropout rates and limited learning opportunities. HDN works to change this by promoting inclusive education models that welcome every learner.

We support teachers with training on disability-friendly practices, provide scholarships to students, and design literacy programs for adults. Early detection and referral services also help identify children who need support at a young age. Through these initiatives, we create a system where learning is not a privilege, but a right accessible to all.
